Cambridge Early Music Concerts 2007

CONCERT SERIES 2007 Concert 3

ROYAL CHAMBERS, SACRED VAULTS AND NOBLE HOMES

Consortium5

7.30pm, Saturday 7 July, 2007
St Edward's Church
The development of the recorder over the centuries has been inspired by the settings and expectations of performance. Witness an exploration of the relationship between music and space, ranging from the ethereal beauty of sacred music to artful counterpoint, courtly dances and contemporary soundscapes. Consortium5, finalists in last year's Young Artists Competition (hosted by the York Early Music Festival), offer a glimpse into forgotten worlds of church, royalty, leisure and life, contrasted with modern approaches to the recorder's possibilities. Their programme will include music by Victoria, Holborne, Tye, Byrd, Boismortier and Vivaldi.
Concert generously supported by the Early Music Network with funds from Arts Council England.
