The highlight of this year's Handel anniversary celebrations, this concert shows the influence on English music of the Italian style which Handel and others brought to London. The programme contains two Handel cantatas, with recorder and oboe obbligato respectively, Italian duets which were later re-used in Messiah, a Chandos anthem by Haym, and Pepusch's Ode on the Death of the Duke of Devonshire, Britannia and Augusta.
